1. Ciao Sara e benvenuta nel mio blog! Parlaci un pò di te.
Ciao Laubao!

1. Hello Sara and welcome in my blog! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi Laubao world! It’s a pleasure to make this interview with you, Laura! I’m Sara and “Sara Arts” is my little world. I am Italian and living in Switzerland. Two years ago I opened my blog Sara Art Studio to talk about my passions, my love for handmade staff and to share my projects and creations. I love following the emotions that objects, situations… photos give me and translate them into something else: my works.
Ancora piccola giocavo solo con carta, penne e colori, bambole e giochi rimanevano sempre in ordine sullo scafale e come nuovi.

2. When did you first become interested in handmade craft? Do you remember the first time you created art? When was it?
Well it is not easy to answer this question: I suppose since I was young. I used to spend hours looking at my grandma while she was knitting and crocheting. And I remember when sitting at her side I made kilometers of chains with yarn and hook, I was really young then. Still child I loved to play with paper, pencils and colours, dolls and toys were always sorted and as new. Project and design of handicrafts and upcycled objects followed not soon I was at the college.

3. You share your beautiful works on your blog “Sara Art Studio”. I love the fact that you share Art Works and handmade creations of other persons, too. Can you explain us what Sara Arts Studio is all about.
“Sara Art Studio” is my little world in which I write about my creations, my projects and share links and images from other Artists to spread out Creativity and love for Handmade Arts!!!! I think artists and creatives might help each other’s. One way is to share and support quality art and handmade. This is how “My Wish List” is born. Each Friday I public a list of 5 images from my Flickr group “Sara Arts – My Wish List”, where talented artists and creatives upload pictures of their works. My project is to create a virtual space in which Artists, Designers and Creatives can meet and support each other’s.
4. Cosa ti ispira giorno dopo giorno?

4. What are your day-to-day inspirations? Where do you find inspiration for your creations?
Raw materials inspire my handmade creations. Usually I buy stuff I like at first sight and store it in my lab. Then I carry on with my old projects and the daily routine. I am sure soon or later I will need it. New ideas come all of a sudden and with no notice, and for this reason I always carry with me my sketch book.
Dove trovi o compri i tuoi materiali?

5. What material do you most prefer to create? Where do you find them?
I love all sort of raw materials. Lately I’ve been working most of the time with fabrics and yarns, but I am learning how to reuse old newspapers and create objects and accessories. I can’t say where I collect my stuff. Collecting stuff is one of my hobbies since I was young. I go for markets, shops, and whatever looking for everything could catch my attention.

6. Do you create art full time, or is it a side project for you?
If you mean with “create art full time”: spending 8 – 10h per day crafting 5 days a week as an ordinary job, I answer: No I don’t. The creative process never stops, and some time I am really busy also the weekend, but I try as much as possible to have an easy approach to my activities. I think this is the key to join with joy and peace both the private and professional life.
***
7. Please give us a brief summary of your creative process.
Most of the time my projects begin with a sketch. I have a sketchbook always with me, in order to fix new ideas when they arrive. Then I develop them as samples and unique pieces. I test each of them personally, in a second time I give them to trusted friends and collect their impressions. I know this is long process, but this helps me to understand if my creations work or some changes are needed.

8. Between all your creations, which is your favourite, and why?
It’s extremely hard to answer to this question. Each of my creations is unique, but obviously I’m not fair. I use to think about My Blumeli Collection as a sort of “some special charm”. “Blumeli” in swiss german means little flower, and I love first of all its sound, reminds me joy and happiness. They are small little flowers, but let’s turn them into ambassadors of joy and love. I use to add them to my congratulations for a new born, weddings and each time I like to say something special to someone I love. Aren’t they perfect for this purpose?

9. You are Italian, but you are living in Switzerland. Why did you move there? How is your life changed?
Yes, I am Italian and arrived in Switzerland two years ago. Five years ago I met my husband and after three years talking on the phone each evening we decided to get a whirl to our life. Once married I settled in Zürich, where I started learning German and following my passions.

10. Do you have any dream projects that you’d like to take on in the future?
At the moment I am really lucky, because I have the privilege to work at my biggest dream: “Sara Arts”. And I am so focused on this project that I have no time to think to something else.
Grazie, Laura.

11. I am impressed by your positivity and will to succeed. Where do you find such strength of will?
Thank You, Laura. I am happy to pass my positivity through my work. I am trying to do what I love more at my best and that is all.
