***
The 5th of November arrived and so did the “Bonfire Night“.
Io sono andata a due feste!! Il 2 Novembre festaggiavano qua a St. Ives, e il 5 a Cambridge.

I went to two events!! The 2nd of November they celebrated it here in St. Ives, and the 5th in Cambridge.

I really like the Bonfire Night. The bonfire is big and beautiful to watch and there are always so many people around it, all of us to warm up and eat around the fire! In St. Ives the wind blew strongly and the fire was a bit “upset”! It was scary and we had to pay attention for it not to turn in our direction!

And there was a long queue to buy the food cooked by the Scouts, but it was nice waiting for my turn that evening! None took my spot if I distracted myself looking at the fireworks while walking in the queue.

I liked less the Bonfire in Cambridge. There were lots of people, they predicted around 30.000 persons! But the event was more “commercial”, with hot-dogs stands and funfair merry-go-rounds.
I bambini che chiedono “One pence for the Guy”…non ne ho visto nemmeno uno qua a Cambridge, mentre ne vedevo tanti in Yorkshire.

Right now, the most beautiful Bonfire nights I attended were in Yorkshire. There it is everything still “of the people”, with traditional food served by the local communities that races between each other in making the biggest fire. The children ask “One pence for the Guy”…I haven’t seen any here in Cambridge, while I saw many of them in Yorkshire. …and then they sell the Parkin (a typical cake of that area), that to me it’s the best thing to eat around a fire!!
