Today I’d like to show you something really impressive! And this will be the last post that I’m going to write from England for the next weeks…tomorrow evening I’m going to be in Italy, for some weeks, where I am going to celebrate my dad’s birthday. I’m looking forward to see the sun and feel the hot climate (because I can’t stand all this rain any more!).

Some week-ends ago we went at the seaside, on the east coast of Yorkshire, to Skipsea. The Cathedral you can see in the pictures here above it is located in Beverley and it is really wonderful (we stopped there just 10 minutes, right to see it).
A quanto pare scompaiono quasi 2 metri di costa all’anno.

Skipsea is a small village…and the coast is disappearing!! The erosion is moving forward! The village is being eating by the sea, at an insane speed. It seems that the coast is eroding at about 2 meters per annum. In these pictures you can see a road, that was a main road, ending in the sea!!

Those signs say not to proceed on the road because the cliff is subject to coastal erosion and it is dangerous…I pretended nothing was written there and went forward. It is weird thinking that, that road won’t be there next year..and many of the houses I saw, in one-two years will be eaten by the sea. I saw a man cutting the grass on his garden, right in front of the sea…but there was still just one edge on his garden, the other one was disappeared. This summer him and his wife will enjoy the view of the sea from their house’s windows. But next year they’ll have to leave that house…and this is a bit sad. But as here the coast is being eroded, a bit down south, it is growing!
***
We then went to Bridlington, that it is one of the seaside places where the families of this area pass their holidays.
***
They sell lot of seafood…that made me hungry!
Vendono secchi, esche, lenze, in tutti i negozi!
***
Children often pass their time hunting crabs!! All the shops sell buckets, baits, fishing lines!
***
I would have liked to go into this “giant ball” having a round!
***
…I couldn’t either cycling around, because the bike was glued!
***
At last we went a bit forward, to see the coast (in a part where the erosion is not acting) and the sea! …wonderful!! It was a shame the sun wasn’t out, it would have been perfect!
…le avete viste??
***
…did you see them??
..adesso?
***
…now?
🙂 ..ero contenta, e ho iniziato a saltare! 🙂
***
Those little black spots you can (maybe) see in the sea are SEALS!! wow!! I’ve never seen them before in the sea!! Only at the circus or zoo! 🙂 …I was happy, and I started jumping! 🙂
***
This you can see in these last two pictures is a typical seaside caravan site in England…it’s really different to the ones I’m used to see in Italy! …it surely deserves a try (but with a bit of sun!).
Ciao a tutti! …a presto, dall’Italia!
***
Ciao everybody! …see you soon, from Italy!
Ciao!
