Domenica scorsa abbiamo fatto una passeggiata a Wentworth Woodhouse, uno dei miei posti preferiti qua intorno! Quella costruzione che vedete nella foto qua sotto e’ la Scuola Elementare dove e’ andato John da bambino!!

Last Sunday we walked to Wentworth Woodhouse, one of my preferred places around here! The building we can see in the picture here below is the Elementary School where John went as a kid!!
La Chiesa di Brampton Bierlow. Come vi ho gia’ detto piu’ volte…osservate sempre quanto sono nere le facciate degli edifici piu’ antichi per via delle miniere di carbone!!

Nei giardini di Wentworth Woodhouse c’e’ questo bel lago, che era tanto congelato quando siamo passati di la’!! Oggi e’ invece molto caldo, sono 17 C gradi!!!

In Wentworth Woodhouse gardens there is this beautiful lake, and it was frozen when we passed next to it!! Today it’s really warm, instead, there are 17 C degrees!!!

E questa e’ Wentworth Woodhouse!! Splendida!! Mi piace tanto questa costruzione, ha una storia molto interessante e misteriosa, …. qualcuno della famiglia Kennedy ha spostato qualcuno della famiglia Wentworth! E’ una delle costruzioni rurali con la facciata piu’ lunga in Europa! Uno dei proprietari della casa fu particolarmente amato dalla gente che lavorava in miniera, perche’ a quanto pare era molto bravo con loro. …sembra che siano successe cose misteriose all’interno, e che le mura abbiano visto vicende di tutti i tipi, …penso che la sua storia potrebbe diventare un film molto interessante e avvincente!

And this is Wentworth Woodhouse!! Splendid!! I like this building a lot, it has a really interesting history and it’s misterious, …someone of the Kennedy family married someone of the Wentworth family! It is one of the country houses with the longest front in Europe! One of the owner of the house was really loved from people who worked in coal mines, because he was very kind with them. …it seems that lot of mysterious things happened inside and that its walls saw lot of various things happening, …I think its history could became a very interesting and absorbing movie!

In the garden lot of deers walk around undisturbed!
Nel parco si trovano dei monumenti molto interessanti, ognuno con la propria storia, che sono chiamati FOLLIES (follie!). Uno dei piu’ famosi e’ “Needle’s Eye“. L’allora proprietario della casa accetto’ una scommessa con i propri amici che lo sfidarono a passare con un carro attraverso la “cruna di un ago”. Per questo, nel 1746, fece costruire questa “enorme cruna di ago” entro cui poteva passare!!

In the park there are really interesting monuments, each one has its own story. These monuments are called FOLLIES. One of the most famous is “Needle’s Eye“. The story tells that the owner of the house at that time, accepted a wager that he could not “drive a carriage through the eye of a needle”. That’s why he constructed this big “Needle’s Eye”, wide enough to allow a coach through!!
Qua in Yorkshire, basta camminare un po’ per incontrare un sacco di animali!! Ve ne mostro alcuni!! (Non inserisco foto di pecore questa volta, tanto sapete gia’ che quelle sono ovunque!!). …si inizia con mucche a Wentworth!!

Here in Yorkshire, if you walk a little bit you can meet lot of animals!! I want to show you some of them!! (I wan’t upload sheep pictures this time, because you know yet that they are everywhere!!). …let’s start with cows in Wentworth!!
Questi cavalli sono i “miei amici”!! Sono proprio vicini a casa, e ogni tanto passo a salutarli! …vogliono sempre qualche filo d’erba fresca da mangiare!

These horses are “my friends”!! They stay near our house, and from time to time I pass to visit them! …they always want some fresh blades of grass to eat!
Questo fagiano era proprio a due passi da casa!! …ce ne sono a migliaia!! Non sono riuscita a fotografare nessun coniglio, perche’ sono troppo veloci…ma anche di quelli ce ne sono veramente tanti!! Passando vicino ad un prato, ne ho contati circa una trentina, che correvano spaventati a nascondersi dietro i cespugli!!

This pheasant was at a short walk from home!! …there are thousands of them!! I wasn’t able to take a picture to rabbits, because they’re too fast…but there a lots of them, too!! Walking next to a field, I counted about thirty of them, that were running really scared, and went hiding behind some bushes!!
Voglio essere circondata anche io da tanti animaletti!!!!!

Cara Laura, questo posto piacerebbe mooolto a Elena, lei è un’ amante degli animali, pensa che l’altro giorno stava facendo un esercizio con gia-gio-giu, aveva sul libro la figura di un uccello ma non ne sapeva il nome, era proprio un fagiano, il tuo post cade proprio a fagiolo, ho detto:”Elena, corri, guarda un fagiano vero!” Bellissima anche la residenza di campagna, poverini! Bene!!! Sono contenta che la foto del fagiano sia stata utile! Immagino che le piacerebbe davvero qua, basta girare un angolo e si incontrano animali ovunque!! …magari quando saro’ sistemata (e speriamo presto) potrete venire a trovarmi!!!
